Wenger sympathy for Napoli

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has sympathy for Napoli who were knocked out of the Champions League despite have stood at the equivalent of two teams that qualify from the group.

On Matchday 6 of the Champions League on Thursday (12.12.2013), Napoli beat Arsenal 2-0 in Naples. That result makes Napoli finished the group stage with 12 points, the equivalent of Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund.

However, Napoli still have to be willing to exit from the Champions League and Europa League displaced to through head to head tie breakers and goal difference. Wenger's sympathy that his team escaped with a runner-up title.

"I am sympathetic to Napoli," said Wenger in Sports Mole.

"This is a tough group and three teams finish with 12 points. A team must be eliminated but they can feel very unlucky so the team," he commented.
