Espanyol are now on a run of 5 league games without a win, with 3 draws and 2 losses. In fact, they have only won 2 of their last 12 games, which is a big enough sample size to know this is not a team to back in any way right now.

I remember mentioning that Liverpool would be ranked 19th in the Premier League if we only counted results in the 2nd half of the season. Well, in La Liga, if we counted just the 2nd half of the season, Espanyol would be 18th! In contrast, Valencia are playing some very good football, and the result show it.

Then in their last match, Valencia put a 4-1 spanking down on Rayo Vallecano. So why the huge price on them to win here at 10th placed Espanyol? I think it is because Valencia have not picked up quite enough wins on the road of late, winning on only 2 of their last 10 trips away from home. There is also the concern about a lookahead to their European game after this, which might distract them.
